Scientific and creative work of the academic staff of the academic bachelor and master study programme “Theology”

  Theology studies at European Christian academy cover classical subjects like Old and New Testament Theology, Church history, Systematic theology, Exegetical studies, current developments in theological discourse etc., and it encourages integration of anthropological approach of the Eastern Orthodox theology in an interdisciplinary research. Theology studies support innovative approach to current social and humanitarian challenges today, as it it is reflected in the present list of publications of the academic staff. Unique publications have been prepared by prof. J.N.Vējš, prof. S.Gūtmane, asist. prof. D.Dolace, asist.prof. G.Dišlers, Mag.theol. J.Jefuni, theologian and iconographer Fr. A.Shabelnik,  among others. Well-known experts in European Sacred Heritage from abroad are taking part in the implementation of the study programme – Dr. J.Gossner (NO), Dr. W.Bell (USA), prof. S.Horuzhy (RU) among others.   Deliverance of lecture “The Emergency of a New Theological Agenda in Orthodoxy against the Background of the War in Ukraine” (April 17th, 2023) Lecturer Juris Jefuni (ECA) delivered a lecture “The Emergency of a New Theological Agenda in Orthodoxy against the Background of the War in Ukraine”. The lecture was held on April 17th, 2023. Event was organized and was received with great interest by the students and public audience and became evident from the lively discussion that followed. Dr., prof. Skaidrite Gūtmane, Rector of Latvian Christian academy               Strategic and academic management of the concept of European Christian academty, as well as international coordination of research groups in various fields of knowledge was initiated by Rector of ECA Prof., Dr. SKAIDRĪTE GŪTMANE. In 2018 prof. Skaidrīte Gūtmane was awarded with Letter of Appreciation from the President of Latvian Academy of Sciences for integration of theology, academic interdisciplinary research in the field of humanities and promotion of the Church tradition in Latvia.
