Scientific and creative work of the academic staff of the academic bachelor and master study programme “Bible Art”

The academic Bachelor and Master study programme “Bible art” was developed since 1993 encompassing five directions :
  1. European Sacred Art Heritage,
  2. Traditional Western Altar painting,
  3. Traditional Eastern Orthodox Iconography (the only one programme in Europe),
  4. Scriptology and Calligraphy,
  5. Graphic art.
  6. Making of Digital Archive and Public Library of Ancient Scripts and Iconographic Schools (GR, CY, RO, RU, LV, LT).
Integrative research in the field of sacred art and theology is coordinated by rector of ECA prof. S.Gūtmane. Both artists and theologians are involved in implementation of the study programme. Unique publications have been prepared by prof. J. N. Vējš, Mag. in Art Therapy B. Soloveja-Dreiblathena, asist.prof. G. Dišlers, lect. J. Jefuni, and prominent excellence in icon painting has been presented by visiting prof. G. Mironov (RU), Dr.H.C. G. van Durtanossky (D), visiting prof. J. Jarašius (LT), A. Rimkevicius (LT), prof., iconographer Fr. A. Shabelnik, graphic artist prof. N. Zirnīte, painter prof. L. Pereca and prof. I. Sergejeva,  iconographer and restoration specialist Mag.art. A. Vasiļevska, iconographer, Mag.art. K. Tambovska, iconographer Y. Kurohtanov among others. European Sacred Art Heritage studies are supported by theological research in its field in order to achieve the highest possible artistic quality. However, the method of Integrative Theology prescribes analysis of Sacred Art Heritage within the European Social Agenda context.  Academic Bachelor and Master study programmes at European Christian academy are unique in the European context.   Deliverance of lecture “The Emergency of a New Theological Agenda in Orthodoxy against the Background of the War in Ukraine” (April 17th, 2023) Lecturer Juris Jefuni (ECA) delivered a lecture “The Emergency of a New Theological Agenda in Orthodoxy against the Background of the War in Ukraine”. The lecture was held on April 17th, 2023. Event was organized and was received with great interest by the students and public audience and became evident from the lively discussion that followed.
